Ready or not, the holiday season is here! The holidays are one of the best times of the year. We get great food, gift giving, and the company of our family and friends! Expecting company can be stressful if you aren’t fully prepared. There are a few things you can accomplish beforehand to make sure your checklist for holiday home prep is complete!
Clean the Kitchen and Check Appliances
When you think about the holidays one of the first things that comes to mind is probably baking yummy food in the kitchen. That’s why first on our list is the kitchen! Putting the turkey in too early could setback a holiday meal almost as much as a major appliance going out. Set yourself up for success by checking (and cleaning) the stove and oven along with any other appliances or tools that you’ll be using. If you are baking a pie from scratch or throwing frozen green beans in the crockpot, you want to make sure you are running full steam ahead.
Throne Room Maintenance
This one is definitely not as exciting as the kitchen stop but the bathroom should be on your checklist for holiday season home prep. It may not be glamorous but the bathroom is a holiday essential when hosting guests. Make sure that everything in the throne room is in good working order as you don’t want to end up with a restroom emergency while friends and family are enjoying the holiday season! Give it an extra scrub while you are in there to make sure everything is in tip top shape.
Safety First!
We are sure you check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors on a regular basis. However, Carbon monoxide poisoning is more prevalent when the temperatures cool down and heaters turn on. Those holiday gatherings are a great excuse to check all of your safety equipment. Get a stool out and check that all of your safety equipment is in good working order and replace the batteries. Keep your friends and family safe and ensure all of your safety equipment is functioning properly.
Don’t Get Left Out in the Cold!
Last but certainly not least get your HVAC system serviced! When you’ve got a full house of friends and family you don’t want your heater to go out. If you haven’t had your HVAC system serviced in the last six months, give us a call!
