Prepping Your HVAC System for Summer | Air Conditioner Maintenance Pros

Summer is here, and the harsh Texas heat has come with it. Now’s the time to start prepping your HVAC system, and we’re here to help! Your HVAC system is one of the only things standing in between you and a stifling, sweltering home this summer. These tips for prepping your HVAC system for summer will make your system’s job easier and keep your home as cool and comfortable as possible – take it from us, we’re the air conditioner maintenance pros!

Change Your Air Filters

It’s important to change your air filters regularly to extend the life of your unit and keep your HVAC system working as efficiently as possible – and it’s one of the easiest things you can do! Depending on your system and the particulars of the filter you purchase, you should be changing the filter every month – and if you can’t remember the last time you changed it, it’s probably time. If you’d like to learn more about changing your filter, you can check out more information here.

Check Your Weather Stripping and Vents

In order to maximize efficiency, you’ll want to check the weather stripping on your doors and windows as well as check your vents for any build-up of dust and dirt. If any of the weather stripping in your house appears to be loose or allowing air in or out of your home, it’s time to reach out and have it redone. We also recommend checking all of your vents for build-up of dust and dirt, and cleaning them thoroughly to remove anything that may be clogging them and preventing efficient air flow throughout your home.

Clean the Area Around Your Outdoor Unit

When thinking about air conditioner maintenance, this is incredibly important! Your outdoor HVAC unit should have at least 2 feet of clearance on all sides of the unit to allow it to operate efficiently and pull air in as easily as possible. We recommend clearing out any debris in the vicinity of the outdoor unit, including branches and any dirt or grass clippings that have accumulated near the unit. This will help your unit more efficiently pull air into your home.

Schedule a Routine Air Conditioner Maintenance Appointment

When was the last time your system was professionally serviced? If you can’t remember, or if it was longer than a year ago, it’s time to call for backup! Having your system serviced regularly will keep your system running as efficiently as possible and extend the overall lifespan of your air conditioner. Keep cool this summer all while protecting your investment – give the air conditioner installation and maintenance pros a call or contact us here to schedule your routine maintenance appointment.
