The holiday season is finally here! The leftover turkey has been long finished and winter winds are beginning to blow into central Texas. What are your plans for this month? Are you hosting friends or family? Going out of town for a winter vacation? If you’re going to be around town for the next few weeks, Georgetown and the surrounding area has plenty to keep you in the holiday spirit! Check out how you can celebrate the holidays in Georgetown:
If you’re looking for the most local way to celebrate the holidays in Georgetown, this is a must-do! Georgetown Square Market Days usually fall on the second Saturday of each month, but for December they’re putting on a special Holiday Market on the most beautiful square in Texas! The big day is Saturday, December 15th and will feature booths that showcase arts & crafts, jewelry, unique clothing, wood crafts, iron works, festive foods, collectibles, and stained glass, while enjoying live music throughout the day from local musicians! You can find more information here, including what vendors you can expect to see and where to find free parking.
Nothing celebrates the holidays in Georgetown like a live performance of White Christmas! Georgetown’s Historic Palace Theatre presents the classic and heartwarming musical White Christmas live on stage for your holiday enjoyment. You can enjoy a holiday tale of romance, friendship, love, and laughter as you follow WWII veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis on their journey to spread Christmas cheer alongside the duo of beautiful singing sisters, Judy and Betty Haynes. You can find all the necessary information about the play including how to purchase tickets here.
While Austin-favorite coffee shop Mozart’s isn’t in Georgetown, the light show paired with some of the best warm beverages around is absolutely worth the drive – plus it’s free! The light show is composed of over a million bulbs and starts around 6 pm every night and the show starts every hour on the hour, ending around midnight or 1 AM. The patio definitely gets busier as we draw closer to Christmas, but weekdays are significantly less crowded. If you have a free night in the next two weeks, make the trip out to Mozart’s (and don’t skip the chocolate mousse) – you won’t regret it! You can find information about the light show, their food/drink offerings, and directions here.
This one is also a little bit of a drive from Georgetown, but it’s an Austin staple that’s not to be missed! The Trail of Lights is Austin’s largest holiday tradition and 2nd largest event in the city. Boasting live music, local food and drink vendors, and one of the most beautiful light displays in the state surrounding a 155ft tall tree, the Trail of Lights will bring out the holiday spirit in anyone. There are specialty nights, including a UT night for resident longhorns as well as movie nights. Don’t miss out on this Austin holiday tradition – you can find all the necessary information here!
We’re already well into celebrating the holidays in Georgetown, so don’t delay – start making plans to take advantage of all of the festive events going on! As colder temperatures are blowing into central Texas, don’t forget to make sure your furnace is functioning properly. The last thing you want is to be left out in the cold with a house full of guests! If you’re having trouble with your system or just aren’t as comfortable as you could be, drop us a line – we pride ourselves on bringing total home comfort wherever we go.
Happy Holidays from the Aero DS family!
