Ductwork, like your HVAC system, isn’t something you think much about until something goes awry. Cleaning your HVAC ducts is as important as changing your air filters. By maintaining the ductwork you can not only catch issues before they happen but can help keep the air you breathe clean and pure. Cleaning your HVAC ducts is essential for the longevity of your HVAC system.
HVAC ducts are responsible for delivering and removing air to and from your home and need to be free of blockage or leaks for your HVAC system to function properly. If your HVAC ducts were properly installed and are airtight, there isn’t much cause for concern. However, we do recommend a thorough cleaning every 3 to 5 years. The purpose of this isn’t just cleaning and removing years of dust, pet hair, and dander, it also provides us the opportunity to assess the condition of your ductwork.
Although we recommend having your HVAC ducts cleaned every 3 to 5 years there are a few signs that indicate you may need an immediate HVAC duct cleaning. If you suspect there is mold growth happening, then the air ducts should be cleaned immediately. According to the EPA, there isn’t scientific evidence showing that routine air duct cleanings result in improved air quality. However, homeowners have reported improved allergies after a cleaning. We believe this is because your HVAC system is able to function more efficiently thus improving air quality.
When we come out and clean your ductwork if something is wrong during the cleaning we can make an assessment and fix it properly. Most other companies who do this work perform carpet and upholstery cleaning. They know how to clean very well but ductwork is unseen. If the knowledge of your system is not there they could do more damage than good.
HVAC duct cleaning is not a cure-all though. If we come out and clean your ductwork but no change is made on your filtering process then we may be out again in just a few years to do it again.
We treat every customer as if our company depends on your business—because it does! Don’t hesitate to reach out to us and schedule an HVAC duct cleaning – you’ll be glad you did!
