What To Do If Your A/C Isn’t Working | Georgetown HVAC Repair

March 26, 2019

We’ve all been there. You get home from work or running errands and the air in your house feels stale and warm. It’s definitely warmer than it was when you left and it was when you left and it’s eerily quiet – the low hum of your air conditioner is missing. It slowly but surely gets warmer and warmer regardless of how you adjust your thermostat. Your HVAC system isn’t working properly and it’s only going to get worse. How did this happen? What should you do? When should you call for Georgetown HVAC repair? We’ve got you covered:

Call Your Georgetown HVAC Repair Specialists

The first thing you should do after diagnosing your air conditioner as the culprit is to give us a call. The quicker we can get out there and take a look, the better!

Take Stock of the Symptoms

What tipped you off that something was wrong? Was it just the temperature or was it a leak or smell? Odds are that whatever grabbed your attention isn’t the only symptom your system is exhibiting. Thoroughly inspect your thermostat, indoor portion of your unit, outdoor portion, and the vents throughout your home. Are there any vents where a smell is worse? Is the outdoor portion of your system running while your thermostat isn’t responding? All of this information is invaluable to us. It’s vital that you inspect visually and to not open or disassemble any portion of the system unless you’re experienced with HVAC repair. You could potentially damage your system further or hurt yourself in the process!

Turn Your System Off

There are certain components of your system that can cause more damage if left running during a malfunction – so it’s best to turn the system off for the time being. When it comes to the health of your HVAC system, it’s better to be safe than sorry!

Keep Cool

If it’s the middle of the summer, try to keep your windows and doors closed as much as possible to keep your home cool. If the temperature in your home is already soaring, open windows and try to promote airflow throughout the house. Once the temperature is in the triple digits, there’s not too much you can do to cool your home down during the heat of the day. If there’s somewhere you can go (a relative’s, a neighbor’s house, the mall, etc.) do that during the hottest part of the day. We do our absolute best to get to your home as quickly as possible but sometimes it can take a few hours.

Let Us Work Our Magic

When we get to your home, let us know what symptoms you’ve noticed in as much detail as possible. Point out where all of the components to your system and we’ll take it from there! We pride ourselves on bringing total home comfort wherever we go and your residence is no exception! We won’t rest until your home is back to being an oasis from the brutal Texas heat.

If you’re looking for Georgetown HVAC repair – you’re in the right place! Follow the tips above and drop us a line. We’ll have you back to living in total home comfort in no time at all!
